Who is the person next to you? Turning statistics into theatre, 100 citizens take to the stage.

Statistics gather people and pack them into pieces of pie, into bars and curves that are used for political argumentation and the creation of economic strategies. What if these statistics were given faces? What if the 9,055,257 population of Tokyo's 23 city wards was represented on stage by 100 people? "100% Tokyo" takes the risk and generates the average of one of the world's most densely populated cities. Spreading throughout Tokyo's 23 wards over four months, "100% Tokyo" began with the casting of one member who had to recruit another in 24 hours, who then recruited another and so on - all according to specific criteria of age, gender and district mirroring the demographic make-up of this mammoth metropolis. Each individual on stage represents roughly 90.553 Tokyoites - together they are a choir that has never practised. They are Tokyo, giving answers to questions that go beyond regular statistics.

Tomohiko Gondo
After graduating from the music department of Nihon University College of Art, Gondo studied at Boston University and finished his MA in electronic music and euphonium. Gondo formed anoymass in 2004 and the group released four original albums. Gondo has been a key supporting member for the legendary Yellow Magic Orchestra for their live performances and has toured with them in Europe and USA, as well as occasional concerts in Japan. His unique style combining computer, electronics, and euphonium has won him acclaim and led to collaborations with artists like Love Psychedelico, The Beatniks, Chara, UA and many more. Although Gondo is known as an unique artist who understands pop music and plays the euphonium, he has also been keeping himself busy as a writer and a creator of music for commercials and soundtracks.
