Raising the curtain on F/T13, last year's F/T Award winner returns to Tokyo to create a bamboo theatre and a dynamic outdoor performance on nature and humanity
Following their F/T Award-winning* entry in the Emerging Artists Program in F/T12 that used giant pieces of bamboo to explore the relationships between nature, humanity and technology through performance, Indonesia Theatre of Studio now return to Tokyo to present a brand new work as the opening production in the F/T13 Main Program. Once again utilizing the Ikebukuro Nishiguchi Park for another dynamic outdoor performance, a bamboo theatre will be created in the midst of the city in the motifs of a ship and the sea. Inspired by the 1883 Krakatoa eruption, the energetic performance will pulsate the audience in their seats, giving them an experience of the struggle with nature. The audience's responses will then be filmed and projected onto the stage, making for a unique, at times frightening re-contemplation of physicality and the essence of humanity.

*The F/T Award is given to the production in the F/T Emerging Artists Program judged to have the most value for new modes of creativity. The winner is then offered a commission to present their work at the following year's F/T Main Program.
