Japanese, Chinese and Korean theatre artists re-examine pre/post-3.11
Koji Hasegawa is famed for his work rooted in the Aomori region of northern Japan and its local lifestyle and dialect. This work sees the artistic director of performing arts at the Aomori Museum of Art team up with Chinese and Korean theatre artists and traditional stage art practitioners to create a new work themed around the Tohoku disaster. People from three different countries meet at a wedding ceremony at a hotel along the Sanriku coast. The awkward atmosphere of music and dancing is transformed when the hotel is hit by the massive tsunami. What changed? What did not change? Two hours of contemplating the future.
