Summary

The Asian Performing Arts Festival extends an invitation to see a series of productions created through the exchange of ideas, stories and inspiration between Asian artists.

Creation through International Collaboration
The Asian Performing Arts Festival 2012 presents the completed versions of the international productions which were created through collaborations by Tokyo, Seoul, and Taipei, under the theme "family". The performances will be at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre.

Tokyo: "Mom's Favorite Songs"

Workshop-Extension for International Collaboration, Performances
Young Asian artists come together in Tokyo to create new forms of performing arts launching out of Asia by collaborating in the production of short plays, and presenting them to showcase their talent and achievement.

Performing Arts International Collaboration Intensive Course APAF Art Camp
Focusing strongly on the idea of international collaboration, this project provides the opportunities for the next generation of talent to work in the field of collaborative production through interchange with already established Asian performing arts specialists, other young artists and people studying the performing arts.
Programs: Workshop-Extension special training, seeing Creation/ Workshop-Extension performances, and more. (Participant applications: from mid-September [TBC])

The Asia Performing Arts Festival (APAF) is one of the joint projects under the Asian Network of Major Cities 21. It aims to encourage mutual understanding and cultural exchange among Asian countries as well as promoting interaction between performing artists to raise levels of the performing arts and lead to new forms of expression. Its goals also include finding new talent and working through the performing arts to build a globally recognized art market, contributing to the further promotion of 21st century art and culture in Asia.
